Jan. 2001 by KL Get Ready for the SeasonAnd Getting Back Your Ski LegsThe new season has started! Time to get yourself and your equipment ready for the slopes. Let’s start with your equipment. Have you looked at it yet? Is it still in storage in the back of your garage from last spring? Those skis might need a tune up before you take on the mountain. Sharp edges will help you with control on packed snow. Fresh wax on the bases will help your skis run smother, turn easier and last longer. It’s a good idea to have your bindings checked out by a professional at the beginning of every season. They will make sure that all of the parts are in working order and they release when they should. The release mechanism gets adjusted according to your skiing ability, your height, weight and boot. Some of these things might have changed since last ski season. How about yourself? Remember how you swore that this season you would be in better shape and not huffing behind your friends and family? Well, it’s time! Just get started today. Every small effort will pay off on the slopes. Take the stairs instead of the elevator and you legs will become strong enough to do a few more turns at the end of each run. Walk more, go jogging with your dog, join a gym, go dancing all night, ride your bike while you watch TV and think about taking a Yoga class. Strength, endurance and flexibility are all important in skiing. You can really ski yourself into shape* if you come to a Virtual Snow training center.. Being efficient will also make skiing easier. Start the season off with a series of lessons and some Virtual Snow Training. So on that note, as soon as you are finished reading this, start getting ready for skiing.
Are you in shape really?
* For those of you not in top shape a week of coming into Virtual Snow will get you in shape and teach you good form so you can ski all the mountain you want. And Have More Fun! How would you fare if you just went to run a 10 k race? If you signed up for a running race you would go run a bunch of times before the big day. Now if you just reserved a cabin and are taking the family skiing for a few days... Doesn't it make since to get in shape first. Call and come in for a demo session. |
